The original author, Tumblr user Advenchurre (now deactivated), said "It's about the idea of navigating the world like you're a protag about to set off on a big cross-country journey. Even if you live in the suburbs"

The standards of fashion are fluid and can be hard to distinguish from contemporary fashion, because Adventurecore is such a diverse aesthetic. It has been sorted into three different groups here.

With advanced clothing and tools to help move around the elements, Realistic Adventurecore is more appropriate for camping, hiking and outdoor travel. There are several different forms of media linked to Adventurecore that can be considered and cater to its practitioners for their lyrical themes and sound use.
